Notices of Deficiency and Notices of Audit
Have you received a notice of deficiency from the IRS, sometimes known as the 90-day letter, because of the deadline to respond, stating they are assessing you additional taxes, penalties and interest? You have two options. If you do not agree with the assessment, you could ignore the letter and give up your rights before the U.S. Tax Court, or you could secure the assistance of one of our tax attorneys. We will represent you in U.S. Tax Court, fighting for your rights and keeping you from paying any improperly assessed taxes and penalties.
A notice of a tax audit from the IRS is much different from a notice of deficiency. The IRS may send you a letter seeking an explanation of entries on your tax return ("audit letter") or the IRS may invite you to attend a meeting to explain and document your tax return.
As our client, we evaluate your return and and advise you on how to proceed. If necessary, we attend the audit meeting with the IRS on your behalf to determine the scope of the audit and work towards resolving any controversies.
We see a business tax audit as a negotiation opportunity to resolve legitimate tax disputes. We understand the IRS does not want to be involved in costly tax litigation any more than you do. Many times we are able successfully to work out a plan that helps everyone move on.

Our firm helps clients with tax issues before the IRS and state and local taxing authorities. In our experience, most tax controversies are resolved easily. We seek clients who desire to be in full compliance with the law by satisfying their legal requirement to pay the proper amount of taxes. In representing our clients, we protect them from involuntarily paying taxes beyond the legal requirement. Our attorneys are honest and ethical, and we expect our clients to share these same values.
